The Liberty Civil Defense 9mm Luger +P 50 Grain Ultra Light is a unique self defense load designed to deliver exceptional velocity, reduced recoil, and lightweight carry characteristics. Unlike traditional 9mm defensive ammunition that typically uses bullets weighing 115 to 147 grains, Liberty’s Civil Defense line utilizes an ultra lightweight projectile engineered for maximum speed and rapid energy transfer.
The cartridge is loaded with a 50 grain lead free solid copper hollow point projectile housed in a lightweight nickel plated NAS3 case. This proprietary design significantly reduces overall cartridge weight while maintaining reliable feeding and corrosion resistance.
According to Liberty’s published specifications, the Civil Defense 9mm +P achieves approximately 2,000 fps muzzle velocity and generates roughly 450 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Independent testing has recorded velocities averaging over 2,100 fps from a 4 inch barrel.
