The Liberty Civil Defense 9mm Luger 50 Grain is a unique defensive load designed around an ultra lightweight, lead free projectile that prioritizes velocity, reduced recoil, and lightweight carry. Unlike traditional defensive ammunition that typically uses bullets weighing 115 to 147 grains, Liberty’s Civil Defense line utilizes a 50 grain monolithic copper hollow point engineered for extremely high speeds and rapid energy transfer.
Loaded to +P pressures, Liberty advertises this round at approximately 2,000 fps muzzle velocity and 462 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, making it one of the fastest factory loaded 9mm defensive cartridges available. Independent testing has recorded velocities exceeding 2,100 fps from 4 inch barrels.
The projectile is constructed from a lead free monolithic copper hollow point, while the cartridge utilizes a lightweight nickel plated NAS3 case that helps reduce overall ammunition weight and offers excellent corrosion resistance.
