The Liberty SPIKE 9mm Luger 55 Grain is a specialized defensive cartridge developed by Liberty Ammunition as an alternative to traditional FMJ and conventional hollow point designs. Introduced as part of Liberty’s expanding lineup of lightweight, high velocity ammunition, the SPIKE utilizes a proprietary 100% copper projectile originally derived from a law enforcement and military focused design.
Unlike traditional lead core bullets, the SPIKE projectile is constructed entirely from copper, providing a lead free design while maintaining lightweight characteristics. Liberty describes the round as delivering greater stopping power than conventional 9mm FMJ ammunition and positions it alongside its Civil Defense and OverWatch product lines.
The 55 grain projectile offers a significantly lighter bullet weight than standard 115gr, 124gr, or 147gr 9mm loads. This lightweight construction is intended to maximize velocity while reducing overall cartridge weight and recoil. As with other Liberty products, the SPIKE is manufactured in the United States using premium components and strict quality-control standards.
